Himachal Pradesh government Energy Development Agency, HIMURJA, is offering incentives for setting up rooftop solar power plants to complete the target of eight megawatts of energy for domestic use till December 2019.
HIMURJA Chief Executive Officer Kritika Kulhari said the state government has launched various initiatives to make grid-connected rooftop solar plants popular in the state.
The Central and state government offer subsidy on setting up of solar power plants, she added.
She said Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy provides 70 per cent subsidy upon commissioning of rooftop solar power project while the beneficiary will have to bear 30 per cent of the cost.
The government plans to complete the target of producing 8 megawatts of clean energy for domestic use till December 2019 and HIMURJA so far has set up 3858-kilowatt capacity solar grids in the state.
“The state government will purchase the surplus energy as per rates fixed by the State Electricity Board which would provide them additional income,” she added.
